You know those games that pretty much every bride plays at her bridal shower where you ask the groom questions about himself and/or the couples' relationship? Yeah, well, we didn't play games at my shower... we just got down to business... food and gifts! haha I thought this would be a good time to answer some questions that I know have been burning inside all your little hearts...(This lil' quiz wasn't given to Nathan to fill out about me... I took the liberty of doing this all by my big-girl self...) Enjoy, cupids!
1) What day did you first meet? Where?
- This is tough. We knew each other when we were in high school when I was dating one of Nathan's friends. However, we weren't friends outside of that (in fact, as I recall, I wasn't a big fan of Nathan's at all). I would say we really connected when we were out at a bar the same night then I saw him again the next day (I must admit that I wasn't feeling/looking so hot the following AM thanks to my ol' pal, tequila). Not much came outta that meeting until he found me on... drum roll... MySpace... using the time-tested pick up line of "Why didn't you tell me you were single?!" Ah, thanks, Tom, for opening to door to my marriage.
2) Where was your first date?
- Our first official date was Nashville. I made the 7-hour solo car trip down to Fort Campbell where he was stationed and met up with him there. Before we headed for Nashville, we stopped for some fine dining at the always classy Taco Bell (yes, I paid for my own cheesy gordita crunch and cherry Pepsi.) For the next two days, it was just he and I living it up on Broadway and at the zoo. This was a month after we spent every single night on the phone with each other for about 2 hours and every day was spent texting each other. The joys of modern technology! I wonder how people courted before cell phones and computers?! Messenger pigeons?! Probably...

3) Where was your first kiss?
- This is easy... There was a psych-out-almost-kiss in the cab ride to a bar in Nashville on night one. I was ladylike and held off on the smoochin' until we got to the bar. Haha Our first kiss was at a bar called Full Moon Saloon in Nashville. The band was playing a song we both were into called, "Always Late". I'd be pretty happy if I could remember the name of the band but the memory of the kiss will have to do.
4) Who said 'I love you' first?
- This is highly debated in our household. There was a time when I had a voice recording of one of our phone conversations (granted, he may have been a few Keystones deep) where Nathan muttered, "I love you!" about three times! Even though I had evidence of this, he denied/denies it to the core. If we don't count the drunken slur, I'll have to admit that it was me who said it first. It was in January of 2009 when I was, again, visiting Nathan on post at Campbell. Nothing super romantic, no candles or music... Just he and I lying next to each other after watching a movie. I had known for months that I loved him but was scared to tell him. I was just coming out of a serious relationship when we first started talking and I knew that he would be deploying for Iraq that summer. I was trying not to set myself up for heartbreak, but there was no way to deny my feelings any longer. :) I loved this man and he needed to hear it!
5) What is your most commonly used phrase?
- Hrmm... I'm gonna say, "Hey, babe?" Although we have tons of goofy little sayings (I'll spare you the deets on that), this is probably what we use the most. It's good for so many different situations. "Hey, babe? Will you grab my drink?" "Hey, babe? What sounds good for supper?" "Hey, babe? Does my butt look big in this?" (the answer to that is always no.) And, my favorite, "Hey, babe? I love you!" <3
6) If you were ordering drinks for both of you, what would you get?
- Depends on the day. If we are just out for dinner, and I know he wouldn't want anything with alcohol in it, I'm gonna say water... no need for a lemon wedge. I'd get a diet soda... Coke or Pepsi depending on location.
- If we were out to get our drink on and I know he's in the mood for beer, there's so much more that goes into that. Is it a dark beer night? A lager night? Or a get drunk cheap night? In order, they'd go Guiness, Yeungling, and Bud Light (PBR if they have it... I said cheap, right?) I'm in the same boat on this... depends on the type of mood I'm in. Usually a Yeungling Light or Michelobe Ultra will do.
- If he's getting crazy and wants some liquor, and my dad is around, Crown and Seven... If we're at, say, an open bar wedding reception, he'll be drinking Captain and Coke. I'm having Captain and Sprite.
7) If you could throw out one piece of each others clothing, what would it be?
- He'd throw out my zip-up Tri-Delta jacket. It's from college, I never wear it, and it has a hole in the arm pit but I just can't make myself get rid of it. It has a special place in my heart... and in the back of my closet.
- I'd definitely get rid of his high school red sweater with the boring navy blue stripe across the front. In fact, he just wore it yesterday and I kept my mouth shut... that's how much I love him!
8) Do you have a song?
- Yes! :) Ever heard a little ditty by Rod Stewart called, "You're in my Heart"? Well, the chorus of it is pretty special and makes me smile whenever I hear it. Plus, it makes me think of us dancing together in Trav's apartment when we were first dating. Good memory there.

9) Who hogs the bed covers?
- Nathan. He knows it, too. It was so bad that we now sleep with two separate blankets. He sleeps with a fleece blanket and I use our actual comforter. Problem. Solved. It doesn't help that the kid flips and jumps in his sleep causing him to tug harder at the blankets. It took some time to get used to but I think we're both getting full night's sleep these days.

10) What's your favorite quality about each other?
- He'd say "My favorite thing about Bethany is that I can't pick just one favorite thing about her." I'm positive that this would be his answer because he's actually answered this question before.
- I'd say that my favorite thing about him is a combination of personality traits; he's the most patient man ever... he makes me laugh at the most perfect times... and he loves me unconditionally.
